I was super excited to ditch the complicated projector setups and try the Epson EpiqVision LS300. Setting it up really was a breeze – just minutes compared to the time I’ve wasted on others! It even has built-in apps thanks to Android TV and connects seamlessly with Google Assistant.
However, the screen adjustments are a major letdown. No matter how much I tinker, I can’t get the top corners squared up. The rest of the picture looks good, but not amazing like I was hoping for (think 6 out of 10). The size is also a bit of a challenge – it takes up a lot of space and needs to be readjusted every time I move it, even to a pre-marked spot. Plus, there’s no automatic adjustment feature like some other projectors.
The sound is decent, but honestly, with a sweet 7.1 Polk Audio system at home, I wouldn’t use the internal speakers anyway. Overall, while the $1399 price tag is attractive (especially compared to other short throw projectors), I can’t give it a “must buy” rating. It might be a good option if you need a projector that sits right at the screen, but for me, the screen adjustments and lack of auto-correction are dealbreakers. Just a heads up, I wasn’t using a special CLR screen, and that didn’t seem to affect the corner issue – it did the same thing on the wall. Read more…
