I recently purchased a NEBULA by Anker Solar FHD 1080p projector, hoping for a significant upgrade over a budget projector I previously tried, the Artlii Energon 2. While the Artlii was larger than ideal, it offered good picture quality at a much lower price point (less than half the cost of the Nebula!).
Expecting a clear improvement in image quality for the higher price, I was surprised to find the Nebula’s picture wasn’t any better. Both projectors offered similar brightness despite the Nebula boasting 400 lumens compared to the Artlii’s 320 lumens. The only real advantage of the Nebula was its compact size.
Here’s the biggest downside I encountered: When using the Nebula, the projector kept insisting the image was out of focus, even when projected on a flat wall. This was incredibly frustrating as turning autofocus off didn’t solve the issue, and a focusing grid would constantly pop up during movies, blocking the picture. Resetting the projector and installing the latest firmware didn’t solve the problem either.
Customer support wasn’t particularly helpful. They requested serial numbers and video proof of the issue, which seemed excessive. To top it all off, they mentioned a mere 3-month warranty, which is shorter than the industry standard. Disappointed with the overall experience, I decided to return the Nebula projector through Amazon.
If you’re looking for a portable projector and are on a tight budget, it might be worth considering the Artlii Energon 2. While it’s larger than the Nebula, it offers similar picture quality for a much lower price. For the price difference, you could potentially invest in a separate screen for a more optimized viewing experience. However, if a compact size is your top priority, you may want to explore other Nebula by Anker projector models to see if one offers a better user experience. Read more…
