Upgraded my home theater projector from LG UH80KA to UH85LA. Big improvement! UH85LA uses 3 lasers for richer colors and is slightly brighter.
Setting it up was interesting. Initially, I projected onto the wall. The seemingly flat wall turned out to be curved, requiring many adjustments to get a square image. A nice, affordable projector screen fixed this issue almost entirely.
Unlike traditional projectors, ultra short throw projectors like the UH85LA are very sensitive to screen quality. Even small changes in temperature or the projector’s position can affect image size. Installing the screen required multiple adjustments despite careful planning.
With 2700 lumens, daytime viewing requires closing the curtains for optimal picture quality.
Overall, I’m very happy with the upgrade. It’s expensive, but worth it for the improved picture quality and features. Read more…
